It’s not spring time in Washington, DC without the Cherry Blossoms. The trees were a gift from Japan to commemorate the friendship with the United States. Tourists from around the world come to see the beautiful trees that line the banks of tidal basin. As you can see from these pictures from the Library of Congress, Washingtonians have been enjoying the spring spectacular for years.
This year’s National Cherry Blossoms Festival gets under way on March 20th with the opening ceremony on March 22. For a complete list of events click here
